My name is Todd Schuyler. I love to play the game of tennis. I played in high school and college in Southern California. I also taught tennis to several people. I enjoy teaching tennis. Today will be a online tennis lesson article.

I will discuss some tennis tips related to the backhand stroke. It is one of the most difficult strokes to master. Most of my students picked up the forehand first which is normal. This is what most tennis instructors start with.

Now for the backhand stroke. Should you use a single or two-handed backhand. I usually recommend a two-handed backhand for youngsters. Most of them are just not strong enough to hit the backhand stroke consistently one handed.

Pete Sampras had a two-handed backhand and coverted to a one handed backhand. It worked great for him. Now if you are older your playing style might dictate whether you should use a one or two-handed backhand stroke.

If you are primarily a baseliner and rarely come to the net a two-hander should be fine. If you serve and volley a lot a one hander is better in my opinion. It is much easier to attack the net with a one hander. The grip comes in to play too.

If you use a continental grip which basically means you have a V with your thumb and index on your racket when you hold it. This continental grip means you can use the same grip for forehands and backhands. In this case stick with the one hander backhand.

So this is just a simple lesson for the two handed and one handed backhand tennis tips. The bottom line really is you lack reach with a two-handed backhand versus a one hander and you have more power in general with a two-handed backhand.

The choice is up to you and if you have a tennis pro instructing you take their advice. Go with what feels comfortable and build your tennis game around it. I will offer many more online tennis tips and strategies in the future. If you want some online tennis software products to help your game go here http://tinyurl.com/3grdvp

Tennis Lessons

I recently started to play tennis. Since I needed some way to get into better shape this seemed like a good idea. My husband plays tennis regularly so I thought it would be something that we could do together, and get some exercise. Also it doesn’t look very hard, you’re just hitting a ball right? Wrong. After a few games of chasing that little furry ball all over the court and missing it 9 times out of 10 I decided to get myself some tennis lessons. Luckily our local community centre had a nice court and offered weekly lessons in the spring and summer to all skill types.

If you have been playing for many years and feel like you need more than the average tennis lesson, see if any tennis professionals are in your area who offer lessons. These pros had to be born somewhere right? Odds are there is one near you, and they are teaching tennis. Don’t worry if there isn’t one though, there are many other places to get tennis lessons.

If you have a gym or YMCA/YWCA in your area go and check them out. Or go to local tennis courts and see if they have times and contacts for tennis lessons. Ask tennis players if they know anywhere you can go to get lessons. Join a tennis league, many offer free lessons once you have joined and have reserved tennis courts for certain days of the week. Sign up your whole family; it’s a great activity to do together.

Before starting playing tennis, you need to have the proper equipment. Whether you are new to the game or have been playing for years, you should consider getting a new tennis racquet. The racquets these days are super light and very strong. They are also quite affordable. While you’re at it find yourself some nice tennis clothes to wear to the court. Also make sure that your sneakers are non-marking so they don’t scuff up the court.

If you’ve taken lessons and feel like something is still lacking, try finding tips online. There are many sites devoted to helping you improve your game. If you are having trouble finding a partner you can use these sites to find someone in your area who is looking for a few good games. So get your racquet and get out there!!
